Born in Japan
Wagyu ("wa" = Japanese, "gyu" = cattle) has been bred in Japan for centuries, prized for its unique genetic ability to marble fat within the muscle, not just around it.
The farm

In 2020 the founder started Wortley Wagyu at Cote Green Farm, in the South Yorkshire countryside: a family farm raising Japanese Black cattle, slow grown and grass-fed to maturity. Koyu began with what the family learned there about Wagyu fat: why it is prized, and what it gives.

Packaging you return to, morning and night.
We designed opening a Koyu box to feel like an occasion in itself. Weighted, foil-stamped and marbled gold inspired by Wagyu marbling, each box is finished like something worth keeping, not just opening.
Inside, the glass jars are cool to the touch, not labelled but printed on to the material itself, so the beautifully considered design never fades or peels.
Lifting the lid a small gold skincare spatula is included with our face creams, warming as it touches the skin. A small, deliberate pause before the ritual begins.
This isn't packaging you discard once. It's packaging you return to, morning and night, the same quiet pleasure each time the lid comes away.
Luxury should not simply be seen.
